- Conditions of Contract
These are the conditions of the contract that are defined in the ICE conditions of contract( 6th edition, January 1991). This is prepared by the institution of civil engineers. This was done in association with the consulting engineers and the federation of civil engineer contractors.
- Bill of Quantities
It is a list of items with respective descriptions and their quantities as per the work agreed in the contract
The method of valuing the work on a timely basis, i.e. the time spent by the workers, the resources use by them and the plant which was employed is called daywork.
- Original Surface
The surface that exists before undergoing any work over it is called as original surface.
- Final Surface
A surface that is intended to be the area where the work has to be carried out, as given by the drawings.
- Commencing Surface
The surface before any work covered by the item has been carried out."Commencing surface' means, in relation to a group of items in a Bill of Quantities for work in different materials in an excavation or 8 bored, drilled or driven hole, the surface of the ground before any work covered by any item in the group has been carried out.
- Excavated Surface
It is the surface to which excavation included in the work covered by the item is to be carried out. Excavated Surface means, in relation to a group of items in a Bil of quantities for excavation in different materials, the surface to which excavation included in the work covered by any item in the group is to be carried out.
Note: CESMM3 provides simple building works which are mainly focused on civil engineering works. It does not deal with the preparation of bill of quantities for complicated mechanical or electrical engineering works. Or building works that are seldom occurred.
